This multifunction piece combines the beauty of a live edge slab with the playfulness of colorful soft upholstered islands. The skittle islands make a great place to sit to put on shoes while the table provides a flat surface to place a bag or mug. Perfect as entrance bench, room divider, hassock, coffee table or all of the above!

The live edge top is made from urban salvaged wormy White Birch that I salvaged with my father from Canton Connecticut. Wormy means it has traces of holes where wood bearing insects once snacked on the tree, creating beautiful carved figures on the outer edges of the wood. The legs are made from reclaimed Southern Yellow Pine from the Chelsea Market Building, AKA the original Nabisco Factory where they Oreo was first created and manufactured:)

Speaking of food the minimal design of this upholstery allows for the use of “Cabbage” fabrics. These are remnants left over from a big project that usually get thrown away. Just like using urban salvaged and reclaimed wood it removes material from the waste stream and reduces the new production stream.
