New Table

Modern Hand Crafted table and chair set designed and made by Los Angeles based designer Andrew Riiska

The top of this table is made of recycled douglas fur I found in Hollywood on Canyon Drive. It used to hold up the roof of the house before they added a secound story. The wood was perfectly cured in the dry attic of the house before I found it. The table tops is had planed flat using my grandfather’s old Bailey NO. 5 hand plane. The table is finish with out sandpaper using hand planes and a scraper. The legs are reycycle oak that was recycled from an LAX Airport terminal renovations 10 years ago by my friends father. It sat in his garaged until I picked it up. The legs feature joiner that goes through the top of of the table for strength and beauty. There is an X shaped skirt that rund undernieth the table. The simple shape is very practical keeping the table strait without a cumperson support you can hit your knee on. The X shaped skirt also creates an illution of a curve when looked at from the right angle. The finish is fivencoats of Southerland Welles Pure Polymerized Tung Oil. This is an all natural product made without patrolium based thinners so it is good for the environment.
